This piece of art encompasses the reality of World War 1, it reflects art in this time period because a lot of artwork was done to portray what war was like and I feel as if this piece executes that perfectly. This piece of art is extremely valuable because of how strongly it relates to its era, there are many common themes that this piece has that many themes that relate to this era of art like surrealism, despair, and pain. WW1 is also deeply reflected in this artwork because this picture took place on the battlefield of France, one of the main participants of the outbreak and fighting of World War 1. I will be comparing Impressionism and Art Nouveau styles because I think that they both portray the Romantic era very well. I strongly think that the Impressionism art style works a lot better compared to the Art Nouveau style, the style uses a lot more elements that bring out more emotion than what the Art Nouveau style does.  By: Cooper Irinaga Elevation of The Cross By: Peter Paul Rubens     The  Elevation of The Cross is a very well-known baroque created by Rubens. This painting ensues inspirational awe through its sheer size, a staggering 21 feet wide x 15 feet tall. The image also encases a freeze frame of action, capturing intense emotion. The stark contrast of the trees, the texture of the skin, muscle definition, and clothing make add so much to the Baroque. The emotion most commonly portrayed in this image is anxiety. On the left, the group of women is portrayed with frantic grief seeing Christ being crucified right before their eyes, on the right panel two thieves are in the action of being crucified alongside Christ. The main section of this painting is what elicits the most emotion. The men frantically thrusting the Cross in an upright position shows how chaotic the painting is, the anxiety-filled tone is what brings all three parts of the painting together.  Cooper Irinaga The Rialto Bridge        My favorite aspect of this architecture is equilibrium. The symmetry of this bridge makes this work extremely visually appealing. I also love how the overpasses have a large clean arch at the bottom but show a nice amount of detail on the top half of the design. The attention to detail of the handrail looks very clean next to the six smaller arches on each side of the bridge. I also love the detailing on the side of the Rialto Bridge, the little engravings underneath the handrail, and the symmetry of the sectioned arches and emblems on each side.          The presentation of the bridge is excellent, the light reflects off the arches smoothly and the overall design fits very nicely with the surrounding environment.  Cooper Irinaga 2/2/2023 Ms. Kljiach                                     The Great Wave off Kanagawa The Great Wave of Kanagawa created in 1831, is exceptionally visually appealing. One of the main elements of its aesthetic appeal is its use of space. The art piece depicts an enormous wave crashing back down on the water, depth displays the wave space and reflects the wave's potential crash. The space shows how massive the wave is which makes this art so magnificent, understanding how grand the wave it puts me in awe. Another main element of this art is its form, the artwork is conventionally very organic, the waves are not manmade as well as Mount Fuji is in the background.  Hi guys, my name is Cooper Irinaga. I am a freshman and this is my semester at UAF. I like to draw, play sports and live life to the fullest. I try to keep an open mind about everything I experience, whether that be my peers, my situation, or how I perceive life. I see myself as being kind, friendly, and genuine.
